LinkedIn Learning
LinkedIn Learning (formerly Lynda.com) is your one stop shop for online tutorials in a variety of software suites and programs. Access is free to current Virginia Tech students, faculty, and staff. Using your Virginia Tech PID and password, you may log into these tutorials and explore as many topics as you like. Access the LinkedIn Learning library 24/7 even from your iPhone, iPad, Android device, or mobile phone at the mobile site and watch entire courses or single tutorial videos as you need them. Exercise files let you follow along with the instruction as you learn, and bookmarks help you keep track of what you'd like to watch.

Technology Centers

University Libraries
The University Libraries' website offers access to books, journals, and information about all the libraries' collections and services. The University Libraries' mission is to support students, faculty and the community as they learn and research and create new solutions to problems. Information is provided in many formats and strives to use new technologies for easy access. QR barcodes, texting and mobile access are a few of the technologies used in the University Libraries. Two branch libraries, Art and Architecture and Vet Med, are located in their respective college buildings.

Newman Library provides a variety of services and study areas for students.

  • Study Spaces is located on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th floor. These collaborative work areas include whiteboards, study rooms with mounted large screen monitors, wireless access and public computers.
  • Third and 5th floors are reserved for quiet study.
  • Rosetta Stone software for 25 different languages can be found in the Language Resource Lab on the second floor.
  • The Writing Center and Comm Lab are available to help with student papers and presentations.
  • Express Oasis is located on the first floor and provides coffee, baked goods and snacks.

If you need help finding materials please check with a librarian at the reference desks located in both Learning Commons. Tours are offered on a regular basis throughout the semester. You can pick up student handbooks to the library at both reference desks. You can also use your computer to access Live Ref for real-time contact with a reference librarian. Your college librarian is available should you need help using resources specific to your major.
